The American Families Leadership Council exists to restore balance and equity to the American family. We build bridges between parents, policymakers, and practitioners—combining legal advocacy, evidence-based research, and grassroots programs—to ensure every child benefits from the active involvement of both parents.
We envision a nation where family bonds are honored by law, communities uplift caregivers, and future generations inherit stronger, more resilient support systems. Through collaboration at the local, state, and federal levels, we aim to rewrite the rules in favor of success for American Families.
Equal Shared Parenting
Mandate 50/50 custody as the default in family courts (unless abuse or neglect is definitively shown), establish parent support services, run public awareness campaigns on dual-parent involvement, and highlight cost savings to government assistance programs.
Economic Opportunity for Families
Enact universal paid family leave, boost funding for affordable childcare, promote affordable housing initiatives, secure targeted tax relief (e.g., enhanced child tax credits, childcare deductions), and require living-wage standards.
School Choice
Remove district-based residency limits on public school enrollment, implement state-funded voucher programs, expand high-quality charter schools, and create Education Savings Accounts that let parents direct public funds toward approved educational expenses.
Criminal Justice Reform
Shift non-violent, first-time offenses toward rehabilitation over incarceration; overhaul private prison oversight; eliminate forced prison labor; ensure humane conditions; impose stricter sentences for violent and repeat offenders; and legalize and regulate select substances to reduce incarceration and fund treatment.
Safe and Supportive Communities
Support community policing models that build trust between residents and law enforcement, invest in neighborhood revitalization projects, and expand after-school and youth development programs.
Universal Basic Healthcare
Guarantee a baseline of essential health services for every citizen, expand telehealth access in rural and underserved areas, launch preventive‐care education campaigns, and control costs through price transparency and pharmaceutical regulation.
